Who We Are

The Detroit Alliance for Fair Auto Insurance is a diverse group of Detroiters, including local officials, neighborhood leaders, community advocates and auto accidents survivors, who have come together to address Detroit's outrageous insurance rates. Our goal is simple: educate Detroit residents on the importance Michigan’s auto no-fault system and empower them to take action to help guide reforms that reduce rates for Detroiters without sacrificing the quality and level of care for those who need and deserve it most.

What We're Doing

Detroit’s drivers can pay up to $5,000 for an annual auto insurance policy. That amount far exceeds everywhere else in the state and across the country. The Detroit Alliance for Fair Auto Insurance believes this issues is a top priority and needs to be addressed, and not at the expense of auto accident survivors.

We need balanced reforms that:

  • Eliminate non-driving related rate-setting factors, like credit scores
  • Stop redlining in Detroit
  • Create an anti-fraud authority
  • Protect the essential quality and level of care auto accidents currently receive

How You Can Help

Let your voice be heard. Become part of our alliance and let lawmakers know you want meaningful change to our no-fault system. Change that results in lower policy rates in Detroit, quality and essential care and rehabilitation benefits to auto accident survivors, and the elimination of credit scoring and redlining.
